After the concrete thinking years of the grammar stage in elementary school, 6th-8th grade students are entering classical education’s logic stage of learning. The logic stage focuses on developing a student’s ability to think critically, reason logically and discern truth. Students begin to grow in abstract thinking skills, desiring to learn, analyze information, and ask thoughtful “why” questions. The logic stage builds upon the elementary grammar stage and prepares students for the high school rhetoric stage.

Logic stage teaching methods include an emphasis on socratic discussion, which encourages students to engage in high-level critical thinking as they learn to articulate well-researched thoughts and considered opinions. Students spend time in rich discussion over literature texts that have stood the test of time. They also engage in both informal and formal logic classes, where they learn to identify fallacies and construct arguments. Technology plays a role, but only where it serves as a tool for research and academic support.

The classical education logic stage is a critical period of intellectual development, where students move beyond memorization to become critical thinkers who can analyze, question, and articulate their thoughts effectively. The integration of a Christian worldview encourages students to examine every subject through a lens of faith, studying and applying God’s Word throughout the school day.

Our Evangel middle school program is marked by personalized attention from teachers trained to shepherd students’ hearts through what is often a tender and transitional time of life. Students leave the Evangel middle school equipped and prepared to engage in the high-level thinking and exposition required in the rhetoric stage.

Middle school drop-off is between 7:30am and 8:00am. Pick-up is between 3:00pm and 3:30pm.

Helping students grow spiritually is a critical component of our program, and we strive to graduate students who love the Lord with their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Teachers actively cultivate spiritual growth in the classroom on a regular basis by integrating God’s word into every subject. Middle school students participate in chapel services, prayer, discipleship groups, and daily morning devotionals.

The use of technology can be a controversial subject, and we aim to only use technology in ways that serve our students and our curriculum goals. Students are not assigned personal devices at Evangel, but middle school students may have limited access to Chromebooks during the school day, always under teacher supervision.

Emphasizing service is an important priority at Evangel. We have several Eagle Impact Days throughout the year where students go out into the community to volunteer in various capacities. Our high school students earn Isaiah hours for service, and service hours are highlighted and celebrated at our graduation ceremony.

We use Facts Family, an online resource that allows parents to view grades, daily homework assignments, and test scores in order to keep track of their child’s progress. Parents receive a weekly email grade report.

Parents are not required to volunteer, but they are called upon often throughout the year to help out in various ways. Parents can choose to be highly involved if their schedule allows.

We recognize that each child is made in the image of God and comes to Evangel with a unique set of gifts and talents. We want to provide the best opportunity for students to be successful and learn with their peers. We have a C.A.R.E. team to help meet the needs of students who have needs that require accommodations. We also offer dyslexia tutoring, and Literacy Intervention Therapy (known As Lit First).

We take security very seriously, and we regularly consult with experts in the field to make sure our security protocols are properly up-to-date. In order to keep our campus safe, specific security information is shared with families upon admission.

Our middle school students enjoy intentional, supervised interaction with our High School students though our House System, discipleship groups, chapel services, morning devotionals, and special events.

The admissions process begins with filling out our inquiry form. From there, our admissions coordinator will reach out to schedule a personalized tour. Older elementary and secondary students are given the option to schedule a shadow day where they can sit in on classes and meet other students. When those steps are complete, parents will begin the application process, which will include student assessments and parent interviews.
