Elementary School

Rooted in the time-honored principles of classical education and interwoven with our Christ-centered worldview, our Elementary program is designed to engage both the heart and the mind as a child grows in the knowledge of God and man. In the elementary years, also known as classical education’s grammar stage, we work towards establishing the foundation upon which a lifelong love for learning is built. .

The grammar stage is marked by concrete thinking. Students learn and memorize math facts, phonics rules, spelling mechanics, and more. They are provided with stable, predictable routines that allow their minds to grow and thrive. This stage of learning is where the students ask questions regarding “what” they are learning, laying a foundation for the “why” questions that will come in the middle school years.

Students in the grammar stage have a remarkable capacity for memorization, and this portion of a classical education utilizes a child’s remarkable memory to equip them with a rich toolbelt of knowledge. Whether it’s the building blocks of communication, such as grammar, spelling, and reading or math facts and history timeline memorization, children leave Evangel’s Elementary program with the  knowledge base they need to engage with more complex ideas.

At Evangel, the integration of faith and learning is central to what unfolds in our classrooms. Our curriculum is first and foremost a Christ-centered classroom, which means we assume a Christian worldview in all subjects. God is the center of not just Bible class, but also science, math, literature, and every other subject. Each class affords opportunities to engage students on a heart level that serves their growth as whole persons, not test-takers. Students at Evangel are blessed with teachers who tend their hearts as well as their minds.

Our Evangel Elementary program is a transformative experience marked by personalized instruction, character development, and faith development. Elementary graduates move on to our middle school ready to hone in on their critical thinking and reasoning skills as they move through to the logic stage.

Helping students grow spiritually is a critical component of our program, and we strive to graduate students who love the Lord with their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Teachers actively cultivate spiritual growth in the classroom on a regular basis by integrating God’s word into every subject, as well as praying with and for their students.

The use of technology can be a controversial subject, and we aim to only use technology in ways that serve our students and our curriculum goals. Students are not assigned personal devices at Evangel, but older elementary students may have limited access to Chromebooks during the school day, always under teacher supervision.

Parents are not required to volunteer, but they are called upon often throughout the year to help out in various ways. Parents can choose to be highly involved if their schedule allows.

We take security very seriously, and we regularly consult with experts in the field to make sure our security protocols are properly up-to-date. In order to keep our campus safe, specific security information is shared with families upon admission.

The admissions process begins with filling out our inquiry form. From there, our admissions coordinator will reach out to schedule a personalized tour. Older elementary and secondary students are given the option to schedule a shadow day where they can sit in on classes and meet other students. When those steps are complete, parents will begin the application process, which will include student assessments and parent interviews.

What Our Families Say…

A smiling family standing together in front of a house.

“Having experienced several different schools including homeschool and hybrid model schools, we are so grateful for everything we have found in Evangel. We cannot speak more highly of the gospel-focused, educationally rich school that ECA is, and we feel so thankful to God for directing our family here.”
